This was a nothing burger story, ginned up by Canadian mainstream media. These meetings happened last year. All the leaders of the APP wanted to know was, if Alberta became a separate nation from Canada, would the president be willing to work with the government of that entity. This came as no surprise to the people paying attention to it.

I've been calling this for years now. As Alberta voted to have a referendum for their independence and one of the possibilities was that they would join the USA.
