The biggest thing against data centers is government is using there domain powers to take land from the citizens to give to companies to build data centers who then use public power and water, raising rates on everyone, then the noise from the hvac systems and then they don't provide jobs for the towns they are in!

wait, so cant have them in the burbs but its ok to poison us "country bumpkins" water wells? Where exactly are they putting any of these are are "away from people". They aren't putting them in the arctic or in the middle of the grand canyon. We live here and we are people too. a sparsely populated area of 300ppl is still a population and all the others who live on ranches and have cattle will have their water wells poisoned too.

People can legitimately have an issue with data centers in remote locations based on the uglification of nature or the displacement of wildlife and habitat destruction

Data centers, no matter where they are, negatively impact the environment around them. In rural areas there have been many instances where they have been shown to pollute peoples well water and we don’t know what impact they may have on farm animals or farming in general.

AI is evil and will end humanity so I won’t cry if these data centers start burning down.
