Plague arrived in San Francisco in the year 1900 on a Chinese trade ship. It’s been all over west of the Rockies ever since. I live in Tahoe and the plague has always been here every few years someone gets bit by a flea and gets it. Its just part of the ecosystem here. Fortunately it's easy to treat now.
