If you're letting off employees, then you should be absolutely barred from H1-B
Amazon HR here - the jobs are going to India and South America, not AI.
I work in AI. These people aren’t losing their jobs to AI. They are losing them to Indians. At the same time that Amazon is laying off 16k employees they are massively increasing their footprint in India.
