Why You Never Get Started (Parents You Need To Hear This)

Sir, I homeschool 4 young children. You are spot on. Great advice. I get so caught up in thinking I’m not good enough to teach them xyz and I put off teaching them so much more. I need to get over it and take more action. 1) I will have my 3 year old reading kindergarten books by the end of this summer. 2) My 4 year old will be able to read picture books and write the alphabet by Christmas. 3) My 7 year old is a very advanced reader and I will start her on a second language today. 4) My 9 year old will strengthen spelling skills and we will master long division by Christmas. I so want them to have and be everything they can be. I will lovingly guide them to reach their potential. We start today. I CAN teach them all these things.

Amen to that. When our twin toddlers were born 3 years ago, I decided they should be bilingual. And to make it happen, I only speak to them in English day and night while their mother speaks Portuguese with them. And soon enough, they already can speak English and Portuguese -- two languages -- at such a young age. And guess what, we're raising them in Mozambique where they're exposed to many other local languages.
