If you are still employed in a well paying job you won't believe it is coming. If you've been displaced and have been looking for a job, you know it is already here.
Hey Wes--just wanted to give a hearty thanks for keeping me abreast of things since the early days. There are a lot of people in this space but you're one of the few who makes things digestible; both keeping me from having to wade through too much insider tech bro stuff as a lay person and the facile hyperbolic hot-takes on repeat that so many offer. You're salient, balanced, passionate and insightful. Appreciate you dude--much better than the rest and, I'm here for every video. Hopefully you keep heading for the moon.
I'm just hoping the ai apocalypse comes before my savings run out.
Wes, you do a phenomenal job of covering all this info. Thanks for all that you do, and do so well.
Dario’s warning isn’t fearmongering — it’s honesty. Too many tech leaders speak optimistically in public while bracing in private. The agentic future isn’t as near as some claim; real progress still relies heavily on human oversight and scaffolding. But the risk to entry-level white-collar jobs is real and accelerating. We don’t just need better tech — we need courage in policy and dignity in redistribution. Dividends tied to growth, not politicized handouts, might be the saner path. Thanks for tackling this head-on — more conversations like this are how we brace ourselves for what’s coming.
Great breakdown, Wes! I just put out a compilation video on the subject as well!
Over 80% of ML and DL projects fail, and as an ML engineer I am having difficulty with adoption of agentic concepts by would be AI developers. The White Collar bloodbath is probably a consequence of the strong dollar attracting offshore labor rather than anything AI related. Large corporates are likely to be the losers in AI while startups and small business innovate massive gains, like what is occurring in vibe marketing right now. AI Native > AI Enabled.
This is why I do localized freelance work. We've reached a tipping point where it's _easier_ to start your own independent business than to look to others for work.
Losing jobs only scratches the surface. The existential risks demand much more attention 🤖 ☠️
The irony is that if every companies managed to automate all their work process, they will lose a huge chunk of their customer bases due to unemployment. What would happen to stock market trading once AI managed to be smarter and able to predict it?
