I could imagine this as a young man - the idea that I'm watching it happen in my 60s is flatly stunning. Well before I get to my 70th birthday, I expect AI to take over the most difficult tasks we've ever imagined. As fast as things are accelerating, it'll probably be true in this year. 2025 is quite possibly the most important year in history!
AI is already destroying good aspects of the internet. We used to have a communication tool which allowed free expression, now certain concepts get censored close to real time. Eventually everything you do with your devices will disappear or change seamlessly to an establishment approved message.

With the singularity statement, I think he's referring to the inflection point that marks when it starts. He's not sure if it's about to start, or if it just did. Either way, buckle up.
Of course there is a massive acceleration as you get closer and closer to the "singularity" I believe the original metaphor was meant to describe this phenomenon ... it is a little scary and maybe even terrifying at times ... for me I'm mainly thinking about the folks that I know (friends and family) who don't see or understand what is about to happen to them and how much our lives are going to change.
I always thought singularity was referring to an event horizon where ai is developing so fast it becomes impossible to predict the future
