You know you are legends when a battle where you lost is remembered for thousands of years and has movies made of it
This is The History channel that I love.
On a long drive listening to this is far better than any radio stations.
I visited Thermopylae last year while in Greece. It's now a quiet and solemn place, hard to to think that such a violent battle occurred there 3500 years ago. The current road that now passes by the battlefield is where the shore line was then, the ground so hard fought for by the Spartans is now buried 20 feet below the surface. We walked to the top of the mound where so many warriors lay buried and unfortunately, lost to time. I shared with my wife's Greek relatives that ancient Greece was used as a template for the establishment of our system of government. How Federalism, States Rights along with the Interstate Commerce Act and democratically elected officials, were crafted from ancient Greek examples but with modifications to make it a workable system. The stand by the Spartans at Thermopylae truly was the most important historical battle to preserve the future freedom of western civilization.
BRING BACK THIS HISTORY CHANNEL!
The Spartans make me feel ashamed of myself, those were real men.
"SPARTANS!!! What is your profession?!?"
Side note: The Spartans were also the first to utilize clever, action hero one-liners as part of their arsenal. 🗡️ 🛡️ ⚔️ 💪 🏹
East vs West, Large vs Small, a King who watches the battle from afar vs a King who fights his own battle....isn't that a sight.
