DNI without a security clearance… what could go wrong?
Thank you JVL with the correct answer on Tina Peters.
POLIS is now out as a future democratic anything. he is toast. JVL is the only one of the lot of you who understands what a mistake it was to reward this evil malevolent woman.
These are the things that will happen when you fail to hold anyone accountable for a coup and the perpetrators manage to take power. Every crisis we are facing is a direct result of our legal systems refusal to hold the wealthy and powerful to the same standard of the law that ordinary citizens are held to.
I think Tim is letting his personal friendship with Polis color his view on this. Peters betrayed the public trust, her crime was more serious and damaging to our democracy than a few thousand people trying mushrooms could ever be. Upon being released, she immediately started doing more to undermine our elections and citing her commutation as evidence. The most frustrating thing to me in the US right now is how little accountability people face for abusing their power. This is just one more example of that same problem.
JVL is absolutely correct. That disgraceful person should still be in the slammer and serve the whole 9 years.
Tina Peters pissed off the judge, called her the most defiant defendant she’s ever seen. Judicial discretion, baby.
The Polis/Peters situation is why these people will never have the balls to do what is necessary to defeat a movement this outrageous. The other side is willing to seize whatever tools they need to to achieve their ends, and we hand them propaganda victories as if respecting their free speech is some sort of winning play. You will persuade _zero_ people with this argument, and if you _really_ care about winning, you would shove Peters into a deep dark hole from which there is no escape. Every single trick that is capable of being used in the legal system to draw out, to obstruct, to delay her release should be used. These people are _throwing men and women into cages to die_ and we're worrying about whether or not we're being nice enough to the enemies of democracy.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime, Peters.
I'm with JVL on Tina Peters. I'd just as soon she rot in prison.
