I love watching Coy nerd out over this underrated movie. He describes all the things I appreciate about the movie and even gives me insight to things I never noticed and he's never condescending about how he knows so much more than everyone else. 💪
To Correct Coy, They did reshoot the opening Holocaust scene as well they had the same kid actor in the following scene.
The only thing I wish this movie had was a longer friendship between Eric and Charles
I often think the moment of Charles encouraging Eric with the memory of him and his mother is one of the most emotionally poignant scenes in any superhero movie. I REALLY felt for Eric in that moment.
To prepare for his role as Charles Xavier, James McAvoy shaved his head. He soon learned that the filmmakers wanted Xavier to have a full head of hair in the prequel. Throughout the first month of filming McAvoy had to wear hair extensions.
This and X-men days of future past are top tier
15 years later, I can say with absolute confidence, this is the all around best X-Men film ever made! It truly does capture the heart, tone and feel of the absolute best errors of the X-Men comics. And this movie was not afraid to actually have its characters wearing superhero outfits. I personally thought as a kid that the blue and yellow outfits looked ridiculous, but they managed to make them look awesome in this movie.
11:29 I'm from Argentina, and I remember when the establishing shot of "Villa Gesell, Argentina" appeared, the whole theater burst into laughter. Partly because of the classic stereotype of Nazis in the country, not that it isn't true, but it seems to be the only thing Hollywood knows about Argentina. But mainly because Villa Gesell doesn't look anything like that; it's like a beach town. I think Villa La Angostura would have been more like the place they show... 😁

I remember 10 year old me in the theater gasping harder than ever when Eric redirected the bullet into Charles' spine. It genuinely shocked me.
