Joe Rogan Experience #2373 - Dave Landau
Dave Landau on Detroit’s Decline, Drug Policy Failures, and the Truth About Pet Surgery
Explore how corporate decisions decimated American industry, analyze why drug prohibition always fails, and examine the surprising ecological consequences stemming from well-intentioned environmental fixes. This discussion grounds personal anecdotes in broader systemic discussions about regulation and autonomy.
Short Summary
- Address failures in American manufacturing policy, using Detroit as the prime case study for jobs moving overseas.
- Detail the severe dependency and adverse physical effects associated with common psychiatric medications like SSRIs.
- Trace the lineage of drug crises from prescription pill mills (OxyContin) to illegal synthetic fentanyl production.
- Contrast the concept of governmental regulation (e.g., prohibition) with its real-world consequence of empowering organized crime.
This conversation flows through economic history, personal battles with addiction, commentary on natural vs. mandated biology (animal and human), and the unintended consequences of ecological management. Listeners gain context on historical failures and modern health controversies cited by comedian Dave Landau.

Dave is the only reason I used to watch Crowder regularly
I’ve know Dave for 21 years and he’s living proof that working your ass off and being a good person pays off in the end, no matter how much crap you have to take along the way. Couldn’t be happier for him.
I have the biggest grin on my face seeing Landau on JRE. Most well deserved. Dave style!
FINALLY Dave is on here. The dude really deserves the spotlight, underrated dude, and his back story is CRAZY.
Dude this is the best. I feel like an old friend is finally getting what he deserves. So awesome to see Dave on here.
Hell yes!!! Help make Dave Landau a freaking household name.
Dude I flipped out seeing Dave on the show. This was a well deserved opportunity. He is on the road none stop. Films a show in dallas nightly and still lives in Detroit. He is no slacker, and like everyone is saying he is one of the most underrated comedians out there. Dave has earn this spot on Rogan.
My step dad shot himself a few years ago. He had cancer, but was in remission. He & my mom had agreed NOT to get the shot. Well, the dr waited til ma was going to get her purse, & he was alone with my stepfather, & he scared & gaslit him into taking it. Within 2 weeks, the cancer was back, 3 times larger & 3x more aggressive. He shot himself. Landau, being the man he is, donated money towards the expenses & wrote me a very much appreciated message. That's a good dude.
Dude when he left crowder, i left too. Miss this guy! I instantly clicked when i saw this on my feed
Landau is probably one of the quickest wits I've ever listened to, and Normal World deserves about 3 million more subscribers
