Israel has been widely condemned after deliberately targeting and killing Al Jazeera correspondent Anas El-Sharif and other journalists in Gaza, allegedly to silence reporting on its military actions. Critics, including human rights groups, say the killings are part of a broader campaign to suppress truth, obstruct documentation of war crimes, and maintain an information blackout ahead of major offensives. Israel has claimed El-Sharif was linked to Hamas, a charge his employer and colleagues reject as baseless, pointing to a pattern of similar accusations against slain journalists.
