A lot of the people who help design social media platforms won’t let their children use social media. That tells you enough there.

It's truly ridiculous when you meet a person who you've only known online for the first time and can't even tell its them because of all the filtering they used on their photos

With a filter or not. Everything and everyone look better in real life. Use the internet, don't let the internet use you.

And as a photographer I don’t offer photoshopping on any of my clients. And when they see themselves with no filter or photoshopping and they can’t believe how beautiful they are it both makes me happy they see themselves finally but sad that it took having a professional photographer with the proper lenses to show that what they actually look like

We also need to educate our kids that such photo manipulation is happening and not to believe what they see. It is becoming affordable to do the same to video in real time so we have to start questioning everything we watch in all contexts.
