Emma Thompsons moment of crying to herself and then having to immediately pull herself together to be strong for the kids never ever ceases to break me. Anyone who's a parent has had similar moments...it may not be always be about cheating...but having to put your best foot forward no matter what for your children is so real. And Emma really crushed that moment. 😭

The wife confronting her husband about the necklace was not in the original script- it was Alan Rickman who insisted the storyline would not work without the wife calling him out. And it is ironic that the cheating husband was played by Alan Rickman who spent his whole life with the girl he fell in love with as a teenager… Btw the constant cringy hints about Natalies “weight” were intentional because at that time the actress playing her was harassed at the press because of having gained weight - the writers wanted to point out how wrong it was and on top made her the love Interest of both the Prime Minister and the President.

You might not recognise her, but there is a reference the dad (Liam Neeson) makes, saying he'd only find love again if it's with Claudia Schiffer. At the end of the movie, when he bumps into "Carol/Karen" at the play, she's played by Claudia.

58:23 if you pay attention, he had NOONE on his side, except the manager that aways supported him. When he is successfull again he got surrounded AGAIN by meaninless people and THIS TIME he knew who really was his friend. This makes me cry everytime. Wanna know who loves you?
