Camped out for Nintendo Wii 1st day sale 2006. Everyone friendly, concerned for others in line, one person got donuts for everyone. (Dear god I just realized that’s almost 20 years ago 🤦)
Currently work at GameStop rn and I can tell you it’s fucking hell. The location I work at has security and doesn’t let anyone camp or form in line until 1 hour before opening and we limit everything heavily depending on how much stock we get usually 1 per person and people cannot be in groups for this. I’ve managed a majority of the launches so we can disperse the sets by how we want to limit it to. Worst scenario I’ve encountered was a bunch of grown ass adults planted their chairs and waited in their cars until opening but there was one kid who waited for around 2 hours in the cold and skipped the chairs. When we opened, this white lady got mad at the kid for “cutting” when she wasn’t planted in her chair and waited in her car instead which is what we frown upon. She made the kid go behind her bf in line which was 7th place in line and we only had 6 Prismatic booster boxes. When her bf came up asking for one of everything I told him I misplaced the last booster box and he left with a few packs instead. I was able to hook the kid up and mouthed to him that we had one left. I’ll never forget the smile that kid had when he realized I saved one box for him. Homie dapped me up and told his brother about it who showed up later showing his gratitude and to this day fuck that bitch for making him go a place in line where she knew he wasn’t going to get a box.
My name is Steve and I don't have cancer, have a nice day people
It's not just the state of Pokemon cards, it's the state of the country. Some dude wanted to have a throw down with me earlier because he thought I backed out of my parking spot too fast. There are so many people right on the edge at all times and it's crazy.
"One minute you're chasing Charizards, the next you're chasing charges."
“I kill people for a living” sounds menacing until you realise he’s just a really bad doctor
When two pokemon scalpers make eye contact they should be forced to battle each other lol
I work at Target. We had 2 scalpers pretend to be vendors and went into our backroom to try and find the Pokémon cards the were supposed to come out a few days later. We have been banning people left and right.
Shout out to my LCS that asks if you want it sealed or unsealed and will slice boxes open in front of you and charge MSRP for getting it unsealed, and charges the market price for sealed product. Scalpers vanished overnight and you get a lot of collectors and kids opening in person at the store and it has restored the sense of community around pokemon.
props to the dude with the blue chair at 5:43 who realized in real time he had lost the plot by being in that line of scalpers decided the make better life choices and left. hopefully
