THE ONE THAT CHANGED CINEMA & SUPERHERO MOVIES FOREVER!! We’re continuing our Road to Avengers Doomsday and Road to Avengers Secret Wars journey with a full reaction commentary to The Avengers (2012)! Greg Alba and Coy Jandreau revisit the Marvel Phase 1 team-up that changed superhero movies forever, from the iconic Battle of New York tracking shot to Hulk destroying Loki in the legendary “Puny God” scene. With Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk (Returning In Spider-Man Brand New Day), Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, and the first MCU tease of Thanos, this is one of the biggest turning points in Marvel movie history. In this Avengers 2012 movie reaction, we talk about why this team-up still works, how Joss Whedon balanced Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, why Phil Coulson’s death mattered so much, and how Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner compares to Edward Norton’s Hulk. We also break down the Hulk vs Thor fight, the shawarma post-credits scene, Chris Evans’ infamous beard prosthetic, and whether the 2012 Avengers VFX hold up better than a lot of modern MCU movies. Plus, Coy shares a personal throwback story about dressing up as Hawkeye for the midnight premiere before Reel Rejects ever started, while Coy brings the comic book insight on how this movie helped define the MCU as we know it. Does The Avengers still feel like one of the best 4-movie runs in MCU history? And how does revisiting Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Thanos hit now that we’re heading toward Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars? Comment below with your favorite Avengers 2012 moment: Puny God, the Battle of New York tracking shot, Hulk punching Thor, Coulson’s death, the shawarma scene, or the Thanos mid-credits reveal! #TheAvengers #Avengers2012 #AvengersDoomsday #AvengersSecretWars #RoadToDoomsday #MCU #Marvel #MarvelPhase1 #MovieReaction #MovieCommentary #IronMan #CaptainAmerica #Thor #Hulk #Loki #Thanos #BattleOfNewYork #PunyGod #ReelRejects 0:00 Checking In! 1:27 THE AVENGERS Reaction 5:01 Southern New Hampshire University 7:18 THE AVENGERS Movie Reaction 1:18:43 THE AVENGERS Review - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER REACTION COMMENTARY: https://youtu.be/32vYW4brsQw - THOR (2011) MOVIE REACTION COMMENTARY: https://youtu.be/sb6mJfng49E - IRON MAN REACTION (2008) COMMENTARY: https://youtu.be/4eNvK8Ga75M Follow *Greg Alba* https://www.instagram.com/thegregalba/ https://twitter.com/thegregalba Follow *Coy Jandreau* https://www.youtube.com/@CoyJandreau https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?lang=en https://www.instagram.com/coyjandreau/?hl=en https://twitter.com/CoyJandreau Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Support The Channel By Getting Some REEL REJECTS Apparrel! https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG PLAYLISTS: Trailer Reactions & Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw9ZsLdoAQFpx38s2hhyFgDe Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Movie Talk (News, Spoiler Reviews, & Film Rumors!!!): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw8fPQ-21NVSb2IOwIiHbVt8 Youtube Video Reactions & Discussions: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_qwcPsN_vOxXC6IVzrOQYG

The tower starting out with "Stark" and ending with the Avengers "A" is so perfect. There are so many great little touches in this movie.

Fun fact about this movie is that the have it fully translated into the Lakota language. There was a risk of the language dying out. The hope was that this would encourage the youth the learn their traditional language. Most the original main cast along with 67 Lakota and Dakota voice actors participated in the rerecording. Added after: It is also available to watch on disney plus in the language settings.

In Age of Ultron they gave Renner a line specifically because of the mind control here, when Scarlet Witch tried to control him again.

So much connections back then. Even Coulson had a storyline in Agents of SHIELD where he had to save his friend, a Cellist.

Agents of shield was PEAK era. Watching it will immediately teleport you back to this Phase 1 magic (back when the battle of NY was the center of gravity) and it will keep you there in a nostalgic chokehold all the way through. I’d argue that AOS is more “phase 1” vibes than a lot of the phase one movies lol. They really spun it off into a network TV extension of the phase one universe.

I love that Cap always address Hulk as Hulk and Banner as Banner. It’s that respect that makes him the leader of the Avengers.
