Conversations like this keep me hopeful. It reminds me there are intelligent, reasonable people who are in the same boat as me and they’re not jumping overboard, but figuring out how we can get through this. The dark humor helps take the edge off too.
I have to believe with Jon that all is not lost and that people are waking up and are willing to fight for this democracy.
I feel that MANY of us SAW IT COMING, how could you not have ?
The New Yorker introduced me to so many people in print. My dad was a trucker when I was young. He would bring it home because no one inside the office where he worked even touched it. It showed me things that I never could get out of 2 sets of encyclopedias we owned. It’s had graphics, touched on topics I never realized. It’s definitely spoke to me.
Jon’s interview skills never fail to enlighten and entertain.❤
My deceased husband was an avid reader of The New Yorker way before it became digitized. There were always issues of it around our house in the 80’s and 90’s. This interview last night was a wake-up call to me to invest more time, and possibly even money, into reading this weekly publication. Mr. Remnick is a great American!
The New Yorker still has 1.2 million subscribers in 2025... I have to admit, I'm surprised.
The way the crowd clapped when he said we want a leader to point the rudders Gave me shivers.
I've been a New Yorker subscriber over 20 years. When NYTs and WaPo begin to list, The New Yorker is always there to right the ship.
Please have the retired federal Judge J. Michael Luttig on the Daily Show. He's a republican but always has insightful thoughts on current affairs.
