This content is the good classic Destiny content that I feel has been missing lately. Need more of this.

As a fat guy, I think I can speak on this pretty well. I definitely got bullied when I was younger for being fat, but as an adult, i’ve pretty much never had anybody disparage me for my weight in a malicious way as far as I know. What I do see a lot of is women who are fat or sometimes just slightly overweight being berated and harassed online and in person for their size. I find that often times when a guy is fat, he gets remembered for his other qualities like his humor, personality, or strength. I believe a lot of straight men do not give the same slack to fat women because in their heads, they are unattractive and therefore worthless according to the straight male gaze, so it doesn’t really matter to them if there are other positive qualities about the person. Another thing I’ve experienced is that when you’re fat as a guy, other guys are quick to call you something other than fat that sounds less insulting, like husky, big boned, large build, etc. that has the implication that your size is somehow correlated to muscle mass, regardless of how true that is. Once again, I do not see the same outs given to fat women.
