The best of the movie is that Zendaya and Pedro Pascal are not in it.
I saw someone comment this about the movie: “Watched Obsession yesterday and honestly walked out thinking about God, free will, and love more than horror itself. The movie made me realize something deep: forced love is not love at all. The moment someone loses the freedom to choose, love becomes something terrifying instead of beautiful, and it made me reflect on why God doesn't force humanity to love Him, even if He could, because genuine love must be freely given, otherwise we would just be robots programmed to obey. But then I realized something else too: the same free will that allows real love is also the reason evil, pain, betrayal, and suffering exist, because for love to be real, rejection must also be possible. Never expected a horror movie to make me reflect on something this profound. Honestly mind blown.”
"Obsession was made in a cave with a box of SCRAPS"
A movie this good with only 3 weeks in production and $750k budget is INSANE.
Hollywood shocked to find out people like good movies!
Project Hail Mary and obsession having massive success, should give Hollywood a wake up call and teach the something. Buuuuut I doubt they’ll listen.
It reminds me of an episode of The Twilight Zone. A criminal is killed by a police officer, dies, and wakes up in what appears to be a five star hotel. He is treated like royalty. His butler, whose sole concern is his well being, shows him where to find anything he could possibly desire: new suits, perfectly tailored and exactly to his taste, stacks of cash for every need, every pleasure within reach. At first, the man lives magnificently. He wins jackpots at the casino, every woman bends to his desires, fortune smiles on him at every turn. He enjoys it, until he no longer does. Living in a gallery of mirrors quickly leads from self infatuation to self loathing. That is essentially how he lives: the entire reality around him is nothing but the correlative of his own whims. Eventually, he complains to the butler. "What a bore it all is, etc." No one ever truly responds to him. Nothing surprises him. Everything is merely an echo of his own voice. Finally, in despair, he exclaims: “If this is paradise, I would rather be in hell.” To which the butler replies, spoiler alert: “Who told you you were in paradise?”
Hollywood gave up on basic human nature... and naturally, the humans gave up on Hollywood.
The ancient art of admitting when you are wrong is something we should bring back.
