Description

Sam Stein and Rachel Janfaza take on a striking shift among young voters: support for Israel has collapsed, with just 13% of Gen Z viewing it positively. Drawing on new polling and a focus group of students, they discuss how anti-Israel sentiment is spreading—and how it’s increasingly bleeding into something more troubling on campuses and online. I'm not antisemitic, I'm anti- Israeli government. I'm also anti- American government right now. I'm a 60 year old rural southerner.

Criticizing Israel is not anti-semetic, it's recognizing a terrible government engaged in terrible actions. I have family friends in Israel. A tree was planted in Israel to commemorate my birth. My mom and her Jewish best friend shared baby clothes. I will criticize Netanyahu and his monstrous supporters as often as I want with a clear conscious.

Any friend that keeps starting fights with others and then has you back them up is not a friend.

I'm an older Millennial and I used to have a generally positive view of Israel, especially after Oct 7th. But ever since, it's been on a steady decline. All the crap they've pulled with the settlements, how they undermined Biden to get Trump elected, and now their extreme aggression in the Middle East. I fully expect any future Dem president to distance us from Israel.

One of the issues I have with this discussion is there seems to be no discussion or divide between genuine critism of the way Israel acts and anti-semitism. And from atleast some quarters, any critiscm of Israel is always branded as anti-semitism.

You should thank Jonathan Greenblatt, the ADL, AIPAC for this conflation. They are the ones saying that being anti Israel is antisemitic and conflating Jews and Israel as one and the same. If their job is to stop antisemitism, they should all be fired.

Genocide is a red line for the kids. Who'd a thunk it, after years of anti-genocide history lessons?

If you're going to do a poll on this matter, you should ask how people feel about the Israel government and at the same time with the same people ask how people feel about Jewish people. They are not the same and the latter is what will show antisemitism, not the former.

Antizionism doesn't equal antisemitism

Wake me up when multiple members of Congress tweet that Jews don’t belong in America. Because that’s how Muslims are talked about everyday by the most powerful people in the country, not Gen Z kids. ✌️
