Spent 40 years as a pipe welder. Welding is such a vast field, I don't think you learn it in 1 lifetime.
I’m loving how the shows a generation grew up on modern marvels mythbusters and more are being posted to YouTube for free
Welding is the most useful skill I have ever learned. It has saved me thousands of dollars in repairing or replacing things that have broken. It's allowed me to create custom tools, parts, and art. I've welded things for my job and for my friends to save them money as well.
My dad passed two months ago. But he was a welder. A sheet metal worker, by trade. He was doing it well before I was born (and I'm 44 and not ashamed to admit it, lol), and continued doing it all the way up until about 5 or so years before he died. He was a Journeyman, the foreman and top guy at his shop. He could make nearly anything out metal. I have a snowman he made me, by welding together nuts and washers. He taught me a lot of the terms used in this episode. He would've enjoyed tis video. I would've loved to watch it with him. Wish I could message him right now, and send him this link. Miss you, Dad. RIP.
The lack of tv shows like this is why America is falling apart
I am sure many others and myself included remember as a kid coming home from school just to watch this show, and How It's Made. Now just turning 32 in March, this is the exact type of work I've been doing for 15 years now. Love metal work, there is something about the smell of fresh grinded steel in the morning, that keeps me coming back for more
Anyone else find it amusing that the guy over Lincoln's engineering services is named "Miller"?😂
Ahh yes.. back when the history channel was epic to a wide eyed kid.. this brings me back to my childhood.

I’m an okay welder…but an EXPERT grinder.
