I just checked my data privacy setting in my car and to my suprise bmw was sharing my driving data with my insurance company and I had no idea. Thanks for warning us about this Dagogo !
Who knew 1984 was going to be 40 years late and it's actually going to be in 2024 This type of invasion of privacy is appalling
“The car caught fire for no reason, I’m here for the warranty claim.” Toyota: “Your car sent back data packages which shows that you have been closing the car door in an aggressive manner, hence you are unable to claim the warranty.”
What happens when your fridge tells your doctor you had junk food. Goodbye life ensurance goodbye freedom as you are led off in chains to fat prison.
OK, no hard braking. Got it. I'll just let insurance buy me a new car next time a deer runs out in front of me,
I recently learned my car insurance had spiked. It had almost DOUBLED. When I contacted my insurance agent, she explained it was because of a speeding ticket I got. Once. One speeding ticket in my entire life. No car crashes. No faulted claims. Just one speeding ticket was enough to nearly double my insurance payments. I tried to switch providers but my agent came back saying all other insurance companies gave even higher quotes... Insurance is to blame here. My privacy is mine, yes. Without a doubt. But I wonder how problematic car manufacturers would behave if they didn't get any lucrative kickbacks from insurance companies in the first place. They're devils on earth.
Not that my '87 car has any warranty left but at least I can drive more than 85mph without it snitching on me.
the worst thing about this is : in criminal investigations most of these manufacturers act like their cars dont collect any data at all. even in most cases this data cant be used bc of legal issues and so on. so these company use this data against you for money, but if it could help solving a crime investigation, all the data is suddenly gone.
My problem with this system is that it will always be against you in an abstract way. They'll never reduce your price if you drive like a limousine driver. But they will increase it because you hit the break pedal for a sudden red light\pedestrian
Suddenly I really want an old car. Oh wait I already have one because I can’t afford a new car. Phew! Not getting a new one now.
