Now I understand why Halbrand asked Adar if he remembered him... and also wanted to kill him on the spot. Waiting to see their "reunion" lol
Yeah as soon as halbrand said ‘gift’ is when I realized he was Sauron.
So I dont think Sauron had a plan before Galadriel convinced him to return to middle earth, like he said he had given up until she believed in him, which was why he wanted to stay on Numenor. It's only convoluted if you assume he planned the whole thing from start to finish
Speaking of “your a wizard Gandalf”…RIP Robbie Coltrane.
I feel like the reason why Saddoc wasn’t saved was because he didn’t want to be saved. He said that he would be with his wife again. You can tell that he was ready to go.
So about the reluctant hero role Halbrand was playing. The reluctance wasn’t an act. After the war with Morgoth Sauron really did want to repent to the Valar and tried to leave his old ways behind. He did want to heal middle earth so the Valar would forgive him but he fell back into old habits because he cant recognize the difference between helping others and dominating them. So when he was in Numenor trying to live as a blacksmith, I believe that was genuine and that Galadriel did in fact give him the motivation to go back and reclaim Mordor from Adar and the guilt of that is why Galadriel is afraid to tell the others who he really is.
Love how the reveal fits into Halbrand's rage towards Adar that he shows after the chase.
The three women from Rhûn thought the Istar (probably Gandalf) was Sauron because they are both Maiar race. It’s implied that Sauron, too, fell from the sky into Middle Earth at some point in time, and had similar abilities to those of the wizards.
