To everyone in the south that gets weeks of 90+ degrees: shade cloth is your best friend. Where I live, I cover most of my garden starting about mid-July and the difference is night and day. Not only does it reduce heat damage, but the plants being healthier means they aren't nearly as susceptible to pests and diseases.
Dude you live under palm trees. You can plant anything anytime. We need to dig through snow and ice and have hard frozen earth. Maybe in 1-2 month.
I'm hoping the southeast doesn't get hit with another snow storm so I can get started in the garden. I'm so stoked for spring gardening 😌
What're you looking forward to planting this month?
Im in zone H2 in Norway (7b): In February, I will sow sweet peppers (orange, red, purple), Strawberries (regina, rugen, and a white verity), eggplant (patio), and basil. Uppdate: I also added lemon cucumber and yellow beefstake tomato.
With three feet of snow on the ground in northern Michigan I won’t be planting anything anytime soon😢
SO EXCITED to go into Whole Foods today and see a display of Botanical Interests seeds! I bought a bunch just because I was so excited to see them there, even though I have a lot in the mail, haha. Thank you to Meg especially from zone 8b in NC!
I’m having fun growing pak choy, lettuces, garlic greens, potatoes, pea shoots and micro greens under lights in the coldest part of winter. Plus fresh greens 🥬
We’re having a false spring in south central Oklahoma. YALL THIS AINT FAIR! Epic gardening is getting me all excited to start gardening and growing! 🤣 SPRING CAN YOU COME ANY SLOWER?!?! Hurrrryyyyy uppppp🤣
Missouri (6b) here. Trying to get back in to gardening after adopting a young kid through foster care and making some life changes as a result. I bought Zinger Hibiscus seeds (among others) yesterday, before watching this video today. I’m planning to start them indoors this week, with tomatoes, tomatillos, and peppers. Fingers crossed I can keep the rescue kittens out of them. We’re expecting another snowstorm this week, so I’m waiting to sow peas outdoors.
