I'm German and I can assure everybody the current discourse would have been unthinkable 20 years ago. In the 1990s I never heard any anti-Russian sentiments, on the contrary people were very thankful for Russia's role in the unification process and generally Germans were very conscious and felt guilt about the Soviet losses during WW2. There were Russian guests in the media all the time, historians, philosophers, journalists, diplomats. It was also quite usual to see former Wehrmacht and Red Army soldiers discussing the horrors of war. Schröder got reelected on his very brave stance against the Iraq War and his geopolitical alignment with Putin. It all began to slowly shift when Merkel took power.
Thank you for having Patrick Baab as a guest, (carried out in English). A great and honourable journalist
Listening to Patrik talking about the shift in thinking of the German ruling classes, one can't help but think that they are reverting to their old ways in the first half of the 20th century, which is more than a little alarming. This is not a reflection on the German people, but in an environment of censorship and propaganda, a population can be directed to accept the unacceptable. Thank you for your work, Patrik.
Glenn, your channel has gold standard!!
This man looks like he has seen it all. Pleasure to listen to him. Thank you for bringing in a great guest.
You are not just a small editor or journalist Mr Baab. You are a genuine and brilliant journalist. Believe me, what we need is true professionals like you. You are the hero of the people. Thank you Glen for this interview.
Bravo Patrik Baab: for the courage and honesty
Thank you both so much for the great work you do!!! Nowadays we need brave and honest journalists more than ever!
You are both men of truth and integrity. Very much needed in these dark times. Thank you for your work! Danke, Herr Baab! Egal ob auf Deutsch oder in Englisch, es ist immer eine Freude, Ihnen zuzuhören.
As someone who lives in Canada, I wish Mr. Baab's books were available in English.
