They aren't wrong. I mean, Muhammad (police be upon him) abolished adoption by saying that Allah has declared that an adopted child is not really your child just so people would stop criticizing him for marrying his adopted son's wife.

Even on purely demographic terms, polygamy disenfranchises younger men because all the young women their age will all get claimed by the same rich old men. Anyone who argues for polygamy is ultimately either ignorant or apathetic towards young men and their struggles, and as they say; the opposite of love isn't hatred, but apathy. Arguing for polygamy shows nigh open disdain for young men's livelihoods, and that's without even without taking the word of the Bible into account.

For the record, there is NOTHING in Protestantism that says you’re free to have ANY interpretation of scripture. Sola Scriptura simply means that we get the essentials of the faith from scripture alone, the pope and the church cannot add to it or add on top of it. Any Protestant Bible scholar will still tell you there is a proper way to interpret scripture via exegesis (pulling meaning out) rather than eisegesis (that is putting your meaning in). Context is important, historical and literary.
