I think the defense mistook Bloodworth’s patience and even temper as weakness, and drastically miscalculated what a skilled opponent he was. So when he knew the facts better than they did, and knew the rules of evidence better than they did, and made better/defended against objections better they saw that as unfair. How unfair that the prosecution’s strategy worked better. How unfair that the prosecution’s arguments were more persuasive to the judge. How unfair that they got interrupted or (GENTLY) admonished by the judge for misstating evidence or misinterpreting his rulings. How unfair that Bloodworth was more accurate and precise, and as such did not receive similar admonishments. The facts were against them, sure. But also, they were out-lawyered. Plain and simple.
I really hope Bloodworth goes through the trial and shows all the times the judge ruled in the defenses side.
The judge sided with the defense so often, I was surprised when he sided with the prosecution!
We all thought the judge was being overly cautious but reading through that, perhaps he was 2 steps ahead, pretty much as always
Defense is embarrassed by how badly they were out lawyered.
"Never was the state told to focus" is giving "why arent you yelling at everyone even though we are the only ones who are a problem" energy.
Nester seems confused on the rules of law. Rewatching was just a confirmation of what I thought about the defense during trial. On the flip side Bloodworth is top notch. Love him!
(When the judge reads this) "Can you please be precise"
The judge said "Don't do that stay focused" because Lewis was going at Bloodworth.
This was possibly the most even-keeled, fair and patient Judge that I think I have ever seen, after watching 20+ trials end-to-end...
