The show really died with Viserys
This show is nothing more than a vapid imitation of Game of Thrones. - It is too politically correct. - The diversity quotas have been pushed to absurd levels... IMMERSION BREAKING really. - I really do not care about any of the characters. - Matt Smith is wasted on this series. House of the Dragon feels like I'm watching NETFLIX's The Witcher, Amazon's The Wheel of Time or The Rings of Power. Medieval shows that have to reflect the world we live in today. The unnatural & illogical mishmash of white, black, Asian and / or other ethnicities of soldiers & commonfolk spread throughout Westeros takes me right out of it. THE IMMERSION IS BROKEN.
The battle of the DEI hires.
"I may appear to have the weak and feeble body of a woman, but I possess the heart and spirit of a king.", Rhaenyra said while sobbing hysterically after a minor setback 😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂
I dropped the show back in season 2 and have no reason to get back to it, but these streams are very entertaining.
Not having the dragonseeds part of the Battle of the Gullet robs them of their big heroic moment.
The wheels are coming off and all because the show has a broken internal morality. It thinks Rhaenyra is the hero. It thinks shes a victim of circumstance. It thinks her indecision and suicidal empathy are virtuous traits that the men just don't get. It's broken the show.
I hate that the dragons have essentially been reduced to unreliable siege weapons with wings. They're so awkward and basically useless. If they're so vulnerable to the scorpions, and their riders are so vulnerable to human arrows, then wtf is the point of them?! It should be a big deal when one of them gets killed, like you've just witnessed the death of a God, but all I feel is inevitability and confusion in how they lasted so long, after being bossed around for the entire battle. We also don't get to see them do much damage before they get hit by a scorpion, or their riders lose control of them. They've really ruined the aura, mystique, and sense of danger/power the dragons had for not only this show, but GOT as well!! Apart from that no character is likeable or there to root for. The message of the show can be reduced down to "WAR BAD. PEOPLE WHO MAKE WAR BAD. EVERYONE WHO MAKE WAR, ON BOTH SIDES, DESREVES TO DIE, BECAUSE.... WAR BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" We know that already. Hollywood keeps banging us over the head with it like they did with Napoleon and Gladiator II. I miss movies and shows like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and The Pacific which give us plenty of characters who are heroic, noble, patriotic, and who are trying to do the right thing in spite of all that. I'm sick of all this nihilistic, cynical trash they keep feeding us, with no positive human ideals to counter-balance it. WTF is the point of this show??!!
