Description

Will we always need an Earth Day? On this explainer, Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Chuck Nice explore Earth Day, the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, and the state of life on Earth. Does planet Earth need saving or just the life that lives on it? We talk about the dinosaurs and whether they’d still be here without their mass extinction event. What if the dinosaurs had a space program? Learn about keyhole asteroid trajectories and asteroid mining. We discuss why is it that we take the Earth for granted, the limits of human greed, and imagine a world where everyone is scientifically literate. Could one day we outgrow the need for Earth Day? I love the way you two think, it is refreshing compared to the way the politicians think. They do not see the possibilities only money or competition between parties. We have those who are dedicating their personal lives and fortunes to space exploration and every turn of the way they are being hobbled or outright stopped. We need you to find a way forward to get the politicians out of the way so we can finally explore ways to help Earth and our efforts to expand and explore forward. This is not about monetary reasons any longer, it about our society and its survival. Maybe greed is good. Let's sell asteroid mining to the greedy!

Chuck is so awesome. He's grown into this incredible human being that I thoroughly enjoy watching all the time. The perfect pairing with my favorite scientist- Neil deGrasse Tyson.

I was hoping he'd explain if we have one or two earth days. It always feels like it comes more than once a year
