Chicago Mayor Johnson Confronts Narrative: Demand for Investment Over Militarism

Mayor Brandon Johnson sharply articulates that Chicago's Black, Brown, and poor residents seek jobs, housing, and justice, not just increased policing. Learn why Johnson frames militarism as a sickness and why data must drive community safety policy.

Description

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Goes Off: Black & Brown Want Jobs, Housing, Justice — Not Just Badges Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson rejected the idea that policing alone delivers safety, saying Black and brown and poor residents want jobs, health care, affordable housing, and justice. Quoting Dr. King, Johnson called militarism a sickness and said he is working to eradicate it while protecting people caught up in violence. He contrasted investments in community with federal disinvestment, noting ATF cuts under the Trump administration as Chicago police recovered 24,000 guns, most trafficked from out of state. Johnson argued data should drive policy and that the president has not asked Black mayors about the realities of disinvested communities. 🔥 Johnson: Black and brown communities want jobs, housing, health care, justice — not just badges. 🔥 "Militarism is a sickness." Johnson says law enforcement alone has not made communities safe. 🔥 Chicago recovered 24,000 guns while ATF faced cuts; most guns flowed in from out of state. 🔥 Data over myths: Johnson urges policy grounded in facts and investment, not fear. #RolandMartinUnfiltered #BlackStarNetwork #BrandonJohnson #Chicago #Justice Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjXB7nX8bL2U2sje8d212Yw/join Support #RolandMartinUnfiltered and #BlackStarNetwork 👉🏾 Use Cash App by visiting Stripe https://buy.stripe.com/7sI3ccgYyfSQ8y45kl 👉🏾 PayPal ☛ https://www.paypal.me/rmartinunfiltered Venmo ☛https://venmo.com/rmunfiltered Zelle ☛ [email protected] Annual or monthly recurring #BringTheFunk Fan Club membership via paypal ☛ https://rolandsmartin.com/rmu-paypal/ Download the #BlackStarNetwork app on iOS, AppleTV, Android, Android TV, Roku, FireTV, SamsungTV and XBox 👉🏾 http://www.blackstarnetwork.com #RolandMartinUnfiltered and the #BlackStarNetwork are news reporting platforms covered under Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.

Chicago native here. We've seen increased investments on the South Side including renovating Metra stops, building affordable new homes, expanding universities and tech schools, which brings more resources and businesses to the surrounding surrounding areas, and community activists over programs to renovate homes in distressed communities. It's easy to rag on Chicago and ignore the good things happening.

You can't do any of that until you get a hold of crime.

Not only that, but Chicago is not even in the top 20 or top 10 when it comes to crime. All majors cities are plagued with crime. T-rump's administration has with held funds for cities to fight crime.

"He didn't say crime was down,". He said he is taking a different approach to crime. "They would rather you die and stay poor" .

Thank you for this informative video, Roland and panel! I'm so tired of the reactions without knowledge of so many people, especially Blacks! I hope we become more knowledgeable, because that should mobilize useful power.
