At the end in the cemetery his wife didn’t recognize the name on the cross, meaning he had never talked about it in all those years.
Tom Seizmore is a utterly underrated actor. Hes great in Blackhawk Down, Heat, and tons of other movies. Hollywood can be very cruel. RIP.
This film is a masterpiece. I went with my grandfather when I was younger to see this. He's only spoken with me one time about the wars he's been through in his 25 year long career in the military and that was directly after we watched this together. He said, "this film does a great job of showing you what it was like, but it's only part of the chaos we endured". That was all he ever said about it, even when I pressed him before he passed. He said , " I don't think I could ever find the words to say what it was like. You can only share it with those who were there, and even then we don't always have the words for it." He's long passed now, but I'll never forget what he said. It was one of the last things I ever got to do with him.
31:30 For those that don’t know, the reason he asked for morphine is it was basically a mercy kill. He realized he was going to die from his wounds, so he would rather go out quickly from a morphine overdose than slowly from bleeding.
They linger on Miller's hands because for the first time they're not shaking. He's finally at rest.
It's one of those movies everyone _got_ to watch at least once...
8:42 “Please don't shoot me! I am not German, I am Czech, I didn't kill anyone! I am Czech!".
As a combat Vet I can tell you on behalf of my brothers and sisters in service that this is the most realistic war movies ever made. Although it's very triggering, we love the attention to detail that the creators brought to this. I remember when this came out alot of veterans walked out the theater and couldn't finish the movie.. Great reaction as always ❤❤❤
I've always loved the fact that it was Reiben, the one who bitched the most about the mission, who was literally sitting on top of Ryan to make sure his ass stayed alive.
They mentioned why brothers don't serve together anymore, The Sullivan brothers and The Juneau.
