Agents : llm that use their text generation to decide what to do next, given to objectives and tools, resources you gave them Different from a workflow where even if you call llm you know at which step you are and everything is determined. Agents have autonomy The example he shows a 1:40 is hosted on n8n. It is a low/no code tool. You can completely do the same using code, but n8n automation are way more easy to explain to people due to the visuals helping a lot, and faster to implement (that's why as a dev I'm switchin to n8n for simple tasks automations like that) How to select the models : you can go really deep into that : local or not, only accept text or can use images, audio (they are called multi modal), price, speed, privacy... as a rule of thumb, the more "powerfull/intelligent" a model is, the more calculations he needs to do (it's no magic, just statistics with A TON of compute). Does every request need the most compute capacity? No. Will it work? Yes. Why switch to lower models then? It will cost you less, and consume less energy (which also means you will pollute less, making you nicer people :) ) For the tools, he mentionned API, which is right. But anthropic released a new protocol specially dedicated as the interface between agents and tools : Model Context Protocol. 7:58 "use one simple agent instead of a team if one agent cand handle it" to go even further, only use code when you can, then complexify to workflows when needed, then to agents if workflows can't handle it and then to agents teams. Keep it as simple and as stupid as possible Manager vs decentralized : the manager expect a response from the tools / other agents, will process it and maybe call other agents/tools and finally respond back. Decentralized, you give all the responsibilities to what you call, it's not your problem any more. Consider this as if the agent "switches personality".
