I’m a high school teacher and I recently moved my family from the US to New Zealand and I literally just did a lesson yesterday about how food is such a cultural and historical phenomenon and being from Texas the dish I taught them about was CHICKEN FRIED STEAK!

I have my mother's cookbook which is from around 1930. It is a classic, which was originally published 1910 and is in its 56th printing now. I had it restored after she passed away and I had some blank pages added "fore and aft". On these pages I stuck all the little hand written recepies from grandparents, relatives and neighbours which my mum had kept, some of her own traditional recepies, and a couple of recepies which I myself have developed. My parents came from two culturally different areas (Bohemia and the Eifel) so my mums cooking was kind of "fusion". I completely get the value of the show and I think it is really important. ❤ Regarding the history of dishes, the research of Massaman Curry has led to a pretty great video on YouTube.
