Hello from the Netherlands. We live a much more comfortable life than the average US citizen (lived in the USA as well). Healthcare, decent income, purchasing power, safe and not working 60 hours a week. Only our housing market is wrecked, like in the US. So yea, happy to share some insights from how we do things over here :)
My great-grandfather wrote his master's thesis in 1910 on the erosion of small-town farming communities' interconnectedness, arguing that many of their traditional means of community connection had disappeared (harvesting together, quilting together etc.). He found that they were becoming too individualistic, to their detriment - in 1910!
