The standards aren't new, they've just been ignored for too long.

Retired Marine here. You are wrong. The fitness "standards" have not changed. The enforcement of the fitness "standards" have changed.

I was the Weight Manager Program Monitor for my AF Reserve Unit the 917th TFW. We had weigh ins every month and PT runs every six months. If you were over weight you were placed immediately on WMP. You had to lose weight every month to keep from being discharged and it blocked you from promotions. Yeah, it was serious back then. We were activated for Desert Storm in 1991 because our entire wing was considered 100% Mobility ready with WMP, Mobility Gear, Chemical, Biological and Nuclear Training Certified, Global Immunizations current, And Weapons Certified....just AR-15...we were a medical unit. Military used to be serious and looks like Pete Hegseth is also serious about Standards ! Its about tome.....

As a Texan I’m ashamed of this is what Texas has accepted as acceptable.😢
