It has an incredible world with brilliant characters but sets it all up in an unsatisfying way with little payoff for its mysteries. And yet… I still love it. ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ *Credits:* Writers: Forrest Lee, Jessica Tocci Editors: Tyler Mascola, Shnaia "Naya" Llamera, Warak, Axellent Sound Designer: Yosi Berman ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐ Need Royalty Free Music for your Content? Matpat predicted the ending. Can't be mad about that.

I think most of the criticisms boil down to the show needing more episodes

I think the reveal that they all a brain scan is a natural conclusion for what the characters been building up, it is still shocking news and sudden BUT they all slowly but surely adopt the mindset that they won't leave the circus BUT is not that bad because they have each other. oh and also, I think is a nice gesture that these brain scan finally get a conclusion of their real self doing well IRL, they can stop relating to their old self as they are now their own person who live in circus

Prior to the 2010s, the word "Filler" in animation was specifically used for anime that invented episodes with plots that weren't in the Manga to stall for time until the Manga caught up. No one would say Western Animation like Spongebob had filler. The change largely came from the Steven Universe fandom starting around Season 3, who used it to refer to the slice of life episodes that didn't advance the plot with the diamonds. Now people will use the term filler for any episode that isn't advancing the lore or making crazy big changes happen, to extreme excess (I've read a "No filler watch list" for Steven Universe that skipped 90% of the first season) and a lot of creators are scared of taking their time and actually giving us a chance to see the characters because the audience wants things to always move.

I'm glad he can speak about his criticisms while staying true to himself

It turned out better than I expected it to. From around episode 3, I thought it would turn out they were all dead. You can't leave someone trapped in a VR headset with no food or water for very long. I thought their digital proxies went abstract when the brain controlling them died.

Honestly I don't engage with fanbases for the same reason Film Theory is getting absolutely grilled rn. People should be allowed to express their opinions, to contradict one another, but most fans just get so aggressive and angry about it, I just don't bother. I want to love what I love, think what I think, and not be hurt by it. I havent even watched their finale theory just bc of this...

I think you should do a film theory about the general topic of film criticism. You know a real theory about the very concept of film, why is it important, what does it say about the industry, why is it so often weaponized, and what makes valid criticism. I imagine that topic is far more complex then most, even I ,would imagine.
