The cuts aimed at public media and foreign aid passed late last night in the house, one day after the Senate voted 51-48 after 2 a.m. Thursday to approve the measure. Two Republicans joined all Democrats in opposing the package in the House: Reps. Mike Turner of Ohio and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania. The measure cuts $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides funding for NPR and PBS.
