Support our work: https://democracynow.org/donate/sm-desc-yt Today marks the 60th anniversary of the creation of Medicare and Medicaid — and nearly one month since President Trump's federal budget slashed nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid to extend tax cuts for the rich. The cuts could lead to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths every year. "Medicaid has been a lifeline. And without it, people will die," says Ai-jen Poo, co-founder of Caring Across Generations and the Domestic Workers Alliance, which helped organize a 60-hour vigil last week ahead of the anniversary as part of a broader campaign to fight back against Trump's cuts. She highlights the role of immigrants, who make up a third of the caregiving sector, and says Trump's crackdown on immigration hastens the dwindling of care available to the aging and elderly. "We should be adding a trillion dollars in investments in healthcare in this country and in caregiving services in this country," says Poo. "We need to strengthen these systems and programs for the 22nd century, not gut them." These people DO NOT CARE; NOTHING IS GOING TO MAKE THEM CARE. They believe down to the bottom of their black souls that accumulating wealth is their God-given right, even at the expense of the rest of us.

Since when does the government care about our health, or their own life to begin with? It's unfortunate this affects everyone including government officials.

They still aren’t experimenting on shutting down Trumps phones. I guess I need another three years of shitting outside at public libraries to make people that interacted with me when I had a livable income think my writing is about them.

Private equities are price gouging in the US in every sector, including medical. Many of the CEO's fund aipac which leads to Israel being the biggest recipient of US AID. Americans cover their universal health care, education through college, social security, paid leave, food vouchers, subsidized housing and grad school, emergency services, etc. Our government also sends them billions of taxpayers' money for their forever wars while ending services and jobs here in the service of more privatization.

I know it seems grim but when we look at the quality of people that DN brings to us and the quality journalism that is presented, I do believe we will find a way. There are so many good people that are highly skilled in required fields. Thanks Amy ❤
