The iPhone Air Disaster Apple Didn’t See Coming
Apple's Identity Crisis: Why Traditional Strengths Undermine AI Dominance
Discover why Apple’s focus on polish and secrecy, which fueled past hardware success, now threatens its relevance in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Learn whether their caution is strategic patience or a fatal misstep.
Short Summary
- Apple’s latest hardware event showcased incremental updates, failing to address the industry's central shift toward generative AI.
- The core criticism centers on Apple’s heavy reliance on OpenAI's ChatGPT for complex AI tasks, undermining its foundational privacy claims.
- Evidence suggests the broader AI industry might be an overvalued bubble, leading to Apple’s deliberate hesitation, contrasting with competitors pouring billions into development.
- The presentation dissects how Apple's historical success model—secrecy and final polish—is actively hindering its ability to compete in fast-moving AI development.
This analysis frames the recent iPhone 17 launch not as a product announcement, but as a visible defense mechanism against Apple’s growing irrelevance in the AI frontier, where speed and rapid iteration currently trump perceived quality and privacy guarantees.

"nobody cares" but everybody buys
“Here’s a super thin phone the battery is sold separately”
Apple: - Made it thinner - Battery below 4,000mAh - Sell you magsafe for $99 - made it uncomfortable to hold - Sell you phone case People: Take my moneh
If you ever feel useless remember there's grown up adults who compare between who uses which devices in 2025
As an apple user, i can say, the products works well for a long time, you don't need the latest iPhone:)
With the iPhone Air they basically delivered a half foldable. I bet the other half will come next year.
My red flag with the Air is that they advertised a MagSafe battery pack with the Air. That tells me even Apple isn’t 100% confident in the “all day battery life” they claim to have.
Apple's greatest enemy is Apple.
Phones becoming thinner and especially the bezels becoming thinner make them only harder to handle. You can't even pick them up without triggering some unwanted actions.
