Mailman here. I've delivered mail to our large County Jail for a county of 1.5 million people and honestly they don't get their mail picked up every day, because we have to get buzzed into like four different rooms before we can actually get to the mail room when I'm assigned to it, so I'm sure that a less diligent carrier than me would probably skip it if they were behind for the day.... I usually find three or four tubs worth of mail in there meaning it's probably been sitting for a few days . And then there's probably some bureaucratic process before it even gets to the mail room ...thinking it's just prisoner correspondence, so they're not in any rush to work with it.
