The only thing Ezra Klein has an abundance of is pretentiousness. Few people have more unearned influence than Ezra Klein.
'Abundance' is just neoliberalism for kids.
the Abundance movement: Supply-side economics with a fresh coat of paint.
Society isn't gonna get any better until billionaires are first taxed out of existence
It's exactly like a Libertarian conversation--excellent point. "Do you want big government or small government"? "When it comes to policing what goes on in my bedroom, small government. When it comes to policing the hazardous chemical plant next to my house, big government." "Ok, but do you want big government or small government?" The size isn't the issue, it's the agenda. Nobody wants a government that wastes resources, and nobody wants a government that doesn't do its job. The government should be as big as it needs to be in order to do the things we elect it to do. Same with regulations.
"we all know the government can't do anything" Particularly when the regulations are designed to please the capital lobbyists and each government employee has to do the job of 3 so that taxes can be cut for a handful of billionaires who want a new Lamborghini on their yacht.
The mere mention of Ezra Klein gives me a pounding headache.
This stage is called "parasitic capitalism". It's the stage where the parasite tries to convince the host that the host cannot survive without the parasite: "hey look abundance!"
At this point, wealth disparity is so bad I would accept the government taxing billionaires and burning the money over not taxing billionaires.
You know what the worst bureaucracy in the world is? Fucking private health insurance.
