I get the impression that the cameras gave this lady the courage to speak her truth finally.
“Fathers idealize the home but they can’t be there enough” Bro, this man didn’t WANT to be there enough
"The divorce came out of nowhere!" ---this guy
She’s TELLING him what she needs. He isn’t interested in anything but what HE wants.
He shows no affection towards his wife, or his child. This is so sad .😢
He isn't even having a discussion with his wife, he's telling her what he's doing and will continue to do... So sad.
He calls spending time with his son "fooling around." Tells you how serious he takes his family.
He is talking AT her. He doesn’t want a relationship. He wants someone to manage his home.
Although I am not American, I had a conversation with my grandfather a few years back about what divorcing my grandmother was like. I remember hearing him say “your grandmother left at a bad time. almost immediately after she left, the house started to get dirty and I was called into parent-teacher conferences all the time”. I had to break it down to him in that moment that the house didn’t magically clean itself when she was around, she did that. Parent-teacher conferences weren’t invented after she left, she was the one attending while he was busy with his bad choices. This man was in his 70s, and I could tell that up until that moment he had never considered the possibility that my grandmother’s responsibilities went far beyond fixing dinner and looking pretty. That horrified me. She was a tremendously smart and talented woman whose entire life was wasted either cleaning after a terrible husband or suffering the consequences of his choices long after they separated and he only realized it after her death… but still, the man insists she was the love of his life. May this kind of “love” never find anyone.
He's spending an awful lot of time doing activities with kids that aren't his own.
