I live here, and everyone is just going about there day to day lives. Refineries have problems. One pops every couple years. If you ever spent a day near one of these Refineries you hear exposure alarms. Leaks happen WAAAAAY MORE OFTEN than is let on. I've worked on the AC at a site in Baton Rouge about a decade ago and i was outside grabbing tools an alarm blasted i asked what happend and the local operator said "ah its just a chlorine leak they will get it under control in a little bit dont worry about it."

These people will do anything for a click. They call themselves reporters...I work across the street, we all know what happened. These people don't.

This exact refinery had another explosion in 2020 due to mismanagement. Probably the same thing. They never lear.

35 years in the oil industry and gas industry and I can tell you one thing for sure there are so many emergency shutdowns AKA esds one-way valves check valves blocks and safeties in a plant or a Refinery that the only way to make one blow up is to do it intentionally because each individual section of every plant and Refinery is separated from each other for this very reason they do not and cannot blow up without being engineered pushed or sabotage to the point where they are capable of doing so....... these things are made with this in mind before the first two pieces of Steel get welded

Cuba isn't about resources. It's about geography. The Cuban Missile Crisis was about the proximity of launch sites, and the danger has not changed. Arguably it's greater, with the rapid advance of drone technology.
