Description

Billy Chemirmir, a former healthcare worker from Kenya living in Texas, was convicted of capital murder in the death of 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris and suspected in the deaths of at least 24 elderly women across Dallas and Collin counties between 2016 and 2018. Chemirmir would allegedly target vulnerable seniors at retirement communities like Preston Place in Plano, Texas, gaining entry to their homes by posing as a maintenance worker or healthcare provider. He would then smother his victims with pillows, steal their jewelry and valuables, and sell the items within hours at local pawn shops. The case broke open when 91-year-old Mary Bartel survived an attack in March 2018 and provided crucial details to investigators. Surveillance footage from Walmart showed Chemirmir stalking victims, including Lu Thi Harris, on the day of their deaths. After a mistrial in his first trial ended 11-1, prosecutors retried the case and secured a guilty verdict in just 37 minutes of jury deliberation. Chemirmir was sentenced to life in prison without parole, but was killed by fellow inmates in his cell before he could face trial for the remaining cases, taking many secrets to his grave. He got the death penalty and it didn't take 30 years from the state. It took 17 months by the inmates.

Sitting at the Walmart and stalking the women who parked in the disability parking is another level of grotesque and cowardice.

It's highly likely he killed way more than the 22 victims we known about

It's extra infuriating when someone murders the elderly and children.

I love this old woman just laying in to the defense attorney. "Did you ask him to stop or say anything to him?" "No, its kind of hard when you're being murdered to ask them to stop"

Killed by inmates in prison. Can't get any better than that.

These deaths weren’t investigated properly because the victims were elderly. The authorities were too quick to believe they passed due to natural causes.
