I lived through this fear as many of us have during the Cuban Missle Crisis. I was 9 years old living in San Diego, CA. I remember how seriously my father took this threat as a veteran of WW2. My father knew that with the vast military installations San Diego would be a prime target for Russian ICBMs. I remember my father outfitting my siblings and I with surplus canteens, water purification tablets, WW2 era first aid kits and yes jackets and ponchos. He had a plan to get us across the border with Mexico and to travel to San Felipe to take a ferry to the mainland of Mexico. We also had numerous “duck and cover” drills in Schools. And how to survive a nuclear blast. Was I terrified. The truth is not really, at my age. However we all knew it was potentially a deadly serious situation, it was always in the back of our minds. And it stayed in the back of my mind for 9 years until I had to suffer the real terror of being drafted into the Vietnam conflict.

I like the fact that Saagar taunts us with his certain death in the event of nuclear war. It's like a Cthulhu acolyte bragging that, "I shall be eaten first!"
