For thousands of years (some would argue still today) elites have gone through so much trouble to find, gather and perform sacrifices that I’m starting to think it might be more than symbolic and they might actually somehow get power from the act. Me from 1 year ago would think me right now is insane for even having the thought.
Another aspect of this that I return to is that we seem to superstitiously act out complex ideas before we can understand them technically, since energy can not be created or destroyed, every aspect of change is a trade off or “sacrifice” of energy into different outcomes
How are the powers that be not continuing this horrific practice of human sacrifice to their God (whether that's Lucifer or money, wealth, status, Capitalistm, etc.)?
It was not 100% due to superstition. It was politically motivated, of which its purpose was to extract tribute by culling the number of potential male warriors from other tribes in the valley of Mexico. They knew what they were doing very well, and they were hated profoundly by everyone in the region
Even Christianity is based on human sacrifice.
Population control used during periods of long droughts and famine disguised as religion .
Dave grohl is a historian in his spare time? What a legend.
As complicated as you make it. Evil is evil and good is good. We all know it.
Camazotz, they had a pact with the underworld vampires. Just like the modern world does. Where do you think all those blood donations, human tissues and fetal tissues go besides our food supply?
The only beast of burden available to human civilizations in the Americas before European conquest were people. There was no other animal substitute that could stand in for something that is essentially completely wasting the time of the people who're are not in charge so that they remain subservient to those who are. This is why human civilization moved away from human sacrifice to animal sacrifice, because it is just so much more efficient to achieve the same effect with sacrificing livestock. The people of the past may or may not have been cognizant of the economic control given to those who can demand sacrifices over those who must make them. But given how many American natives joined with the Spanish in overthrowing the Aztec Empire, I think they at least had an inkling.
