Trump Unveils Gaza Peace Plan for Hamas Review

President Trump presented a 20-point Gaza peace proposal strongly supported by Israel, instantly escalating pressure on Hamas to accept fundamental structural and security changes or face continued conflict. This outlines the core demands, international political reactions, and Hamas's likely criteria for rejection.

Short Summary

  • [00:00:07] Israel supports the 20-point plan conditional on Hamas accepting disarmament and governance changes.
  • [00:01:07] The plan details a ceasefire, hostage exchange, Israeli phased withdrawal, and international oversight via a "Board of Peace."
  • [00:08:55] Analysts project Hamas will likely reject the plan due to demands linking disarmament to only a potential future Palestinian state.

The announcement shifts diplomatic leverage, placing immediate demands on Hamas regarding governance and security structure in Gaza. Assess the political hurdles Netanyahu faces domestically against the international backing this proposal secured from global powers.

Description

Hamas is reviewing a Gaza peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump in the White House on Monday. The 20-point plan includes an end to fighting, the return of Israeli hostages and an international "Board of Peace" to help run Gaza, which would include former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. Trump - who announced the plan alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu - says if Hamas doesn't accept, he gives Israel "full backing to do what you would have to do". Meanwhile, Israel continues its offensive in Gaza, saying its air force hit 160 targets across the Strip on Monday. They will say Hamas didn't play along and continue to destroy Gaza. We've already been thought this.

Peace requires all opponents to agree. You cannot have peace agreed by one side and a third party supplying weapons to that one side. How biased is that agreement going to be. The same for Ukraine.
