Description

Legendary Korean filmmaker, Director Park Chan-wook, sits down with Ronny Chieng (without any translation help from Ken Jeong) to discuss his new film, “No Other Choice,” which he adapted from an American novel. They discuss what attracted him to this story, which follows a devoted company man who is fired and directs his rage toward his competitors on the job market, and the similarities between the plot and his own 15-year struggle to get the film made. He also reflects on why Korean directors are so adept at satirizing capitalism and how the demise of movie theaters is the biggest threat to filmmaking. #DailyShow #ParkChanWook #RonnyChieng Subscribe to The Daily Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwWhs_6x42TyRM4Wstoq8HA/?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Daily Show: Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDailyShow Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedailyshow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailyshow Stream full episodes of The Daily Show on Paramount+: http://www.paramountplus.com/thedailyshow Follow Comedy Central: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ComedyCentral Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ComedyCentral Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/comedycentral About The Daily Show: Jon Stewart and The Best F**king News Team host The Daily Show, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program analyzing the biggest stories in news, politics, and culture through a sharp, satirical lens. In an age of intolerance, how great is it to see an interview with a master director who does not communicate in English that gives him the time and space to answer thoughtful questions in his native language. Yes, there is so much great comedy here but there’s so much about this interview that is refreshing, encouraging and inspiring. Well done!

Great choice for the translator. She played along with the comedy perfectly, while still doing an excellent translation.

Park’s translator is really impressive. Seriously, the work she’s doing is hard to do in real time, and she is super focused the whole time.

As a Korean American myself, I've never seen a better translator than this lady in any other field whether diplomacy, business, academy, social event, or whatever. Wow!

I feel like Ronny is fangirl-ing a bit. It was adorable.

Talk about Korean culture having its moment. I’ve never seen an American late-night tv talk show using a translator for an in-depth interview.
