"If more people valued home above gold, the world would be a merrier place".
I know these movies are deep in the shadow of LOTR, but the whole trilogy has a special place in my heart.
Thranduil loved his son Legolas no doubt in that. But he was so hurt by death of his wife (Legolas mother) that he "shut down" feelings for/about love, and Lee Pace did awesome job as a Thranduil.
The scene where Dwalin confronts Thorin always gets me right in the feels
Thorin was Fili and Kilis Uncle. Fili and Kili are brothers that's why Thorin says ''my sisters sons''. I do love this series Bilbo is a boss.
When Bard kills Smaug all I could hear was Gimly saying "That still only counts as one "😂
And Thorin Oakenshield had his final redemption. According to the book, he was buried with the Arkenstone over the chest, and with his legendary sword Orcrist, the goblin-cleaver. In his farewell... I always cry. A true KING. PD: In the theatrical version, scenes like Thorin´s funeral, weren´t included in the footage. That was a real shame. We only saw these scenes in the extended version later.
Bilbo is like a Vietnam vet he watched all his boys die in the mud. And he battled a dragon. He's the OG. That's why he's so grumpy and drinks alot by the time we catch up to him in LOTR.
Thranduil's cold demeanor was due to the death of his wife, so he shut down emotionally. Elves don't die of age, but aside from being vulnerable to fatal injuries, a heartbreak resulting from the loss of a loved one is so severe that it can kill them.
This Trilogy may not have " You bow to no one" or " I can't carry it for you, but i can carry you" but it has it's beautiful moments
