Description

This week, Alex unpacks what it means to start parenting your own parents. From taking on travel plans, technology, and doctor’s appointments to navigating role reversal and anticipatory grief, she explores the emotional reality of watching your parents age. She opens up about the guilt, frustration, and growing responsibility that can come with this shift, and what it feels like to still need your parents as you become an adult. Finally, Alex dives into romanticizing your love life, and why it might actually be okay to write a letter to your ex-situationship. Enjoy! When I seen the title parenting your parents I thought I was going to relate but I didn’t realize some people just help their parents with the WiFi 😂

FYI for anyone who hasn’t watched this yet…this episode is for adults who actually had healthy upbringings and parents…that’s the perspective she shares as it’s her own. For the other half of us who have had the opposite experience of being parented by emotionally immature or emotionally unhealthy/ unstable parents…this video is quite triggering but also strange to see how the other half lives😢😂😅

I thought I would relate to this but I’ve never gone on a vacation with my parents.. as a child or adult. We never had those kind of luxuries.

U just described the life of all immigrant’s children from being kids…. Translating? Did it from 7 yrs old, fill out forms? Yup… buying tickets for trips.. yup. I’ve been wanting to discuss it on my podcast for a while thanks for the push!
